Build the fleet
Manufacturing & Test Engineer
Create the controlled build, quality, supplier, and end-of-line test system behind a serviceable fleet.
Apply nowThe mandate
Create the build and test system that turns evolving prototypes into a traceable, serviceable fleet. Own release control, supplier quality, assembly process, end-of-line testing, and the feedback loop from field failures into production.
First-year outcomes
Evidence the role is working.
- 01
A controlled released BOM, drawing package, build record, and revision process.
- 02
Documented assembly, calibration, inspection, and end-of-line test stations.
- 03
Measured build yield, rework, defects, supplier issues, and cycle time.
- 04
A production and spare-parts plan matched to the next deployment stage.
What you will own
- Develop assembly sequences, fixtures, tooling, work instructions, and quality gates.
- Own BOM accuracy, change control, serialization, traceability, and as-built records.
- Qualify suppliers and resolve incoming, process, and field quality issues.
- Design end-of-line functional, safety, calibration, and burn-in tests.
- Partner with design engineers on DFM, DFA, serviceability, and cost reduction.
- Plan capacity, long-lead parts, spares, and controlled fleet upgrades.
What we are looking for
- Has moved electromechanical products from engineering builds into repeatable low-volume production.
- Can control a BOM, drawing release, process, fixture, inspection plan, and supplier issue together.
- Uses yield, defect, rework, and cycle-time evidence to improve the product and build system.
- Works directly with technicians and suppliers instead of managing through spreadsheets alone.
- Understands when to buy, fabricate, redesign, or add process control.
The field reality
The environment is part of the design.
Every build problem eventually becomes a field availability problem. Manufacturing decisions must account for service access, spare parts, transport damage, environmental exposure, and fast repair—not only assembly efficiency.
- Low-volume robotics, vehicles, industrial hardware, aerospace, or medical devices.
- NPI, supplier quality, process validation, fixtures, traceability, or configuration control.
- Electrical and mechanical end-of-line testing.
- Service-parts planning and controlled retrofit programs.
